Grahyog

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

Your birth details and your conversations with an astrologer are personal. This policy says what Grahyog does with them, in plain words.

In short: we collect only what we need to run your account and your consultations. We ask your permission for the sensitive parts. We never sell your data. You can download it, correct it and delete your account.

1. Who we are

GrahYog Consultancy runs Grahyog (the website grahyog.com and our apps). For the personal data described here we decide why and how it is used, which makes us the "data fiduciary" under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. This policy explains what we collect, why, who gets it, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it. It should be read with our Terms of Use.

2. What we collect

If you are a customer:

  • Account: your mobile number, your name, your language, your profile photo if you add one, and the choices you make (for example whether you want offers and news).
  • Birth details: date, time and place of birth for you or the people you add, only when you give them to us. This is sensitive information, and we ask your permission before we save it.
  • Consultations: who you spoke to, when, for how long and what it cost; the messages, voice notes and pictures of a chat; the recording of a phone call; and any birth chart attached to a consultation.
  • Wallet and payments: your recharges, offers used, referrals, gifts and the balance. Card, UPI and bank details are handled by our payment partner, not stored by us.
  • Reviews and support: reviews you write, support requests and the screenshots you attach.
  • Device and use: device and app version, the push-notification address of your device, and technical logs (such as IP address and errors) that we need to keep the service secure and working.

If you are an astrologer we also collect your professional profile, languages and skills, working hours, identity (PAN) and bank details, the identity and bank documents you upload, your earnings and payouts, and the deductions we make by law (such as TDS). PAN and bank account numbers are stored encrypted.

3. Why we use it

  • to create your account, sign you in and keep it secure;
  • to connect you with an astrologer and run the consultation, including billing each minute and showing your balance;
  • to prepare a birth chart, a match or a horoscope for you when you ask for one;
  • to take payments, give refunds and pay astrologers;
  • to send you messages you need (login codes, wallet and consultation updates) and, if you allow it, offers and news;
  • to answer support requests, settle disputes, review safety complaints and prevent fraud and misuse;
  • to follow the law, such as tax and accounting rules and lawful requests from authorities;
  • to understand how the service is used and to improve it, using information that does not identify you wherever we can.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it to show you other companies' advertisements.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal data only as far as needed to run the service, and only with people who must protect it:

  • The astrologer you consult. They see your name and photo, what you write and say in the consultation, and the birth details or chart you choose to share. They do not see your phone number: calls run through a calling partner that shows each of you a Grahyog number instead.
  • Astrology calculation service. To prepare a birth chart or a match we send the birth details you gave (date, time and place) to our astrology data provider (Prokerala). We keep the results so we do not need to ask again; they are removed if you edit or delete that birth profile.
  • Phone and video partners. Our calling partner (Plivo) connects and records phone calls. Our video partner (Agora) carries video consultations.
  • Message providers. Login codes and some messages are sent through SMS and WhatsApp providers (such as MSG91 and Meta), and push notifications through Expo and Google Firebase. They receive your mobile number or device address and the message.
  • Payment partners. Our payment gateway (such as Cashfree or Razorpay) and, for astrologers' payouts, the bank or payout service. They receive what is needed to take or send a payment.
  • Hosting. Our servers and files are hosted on Google Cloud.
  • Authorities and advisers. Government, courts or police when the law requires, and our lawyers, auditors and tax advisers who are bound to keep it confidential.
  • A change of ownership. If the business is sold or merged, your data moves with it, under this policy or with notice to you.

Some of these partners may handle data outside India. Where they do, we expect them to protect it to a standard at least as high as ours.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account details while your account is open. We keep the records of consultations (messages, voice notes, pictures and call recordings) and payments for audit, safety, dispute settlement and legal reasons, and we do not delete them automatically after a fixed time. Access to them is limited and logged.

When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise what we do not need (for example your birth profiles, saved charts, profile photo, the people you follow and your name on your reviews). We keep what the law or a fair record needs: payment, tax and payout records, and the records of consultations, including call recordings, which stay linked to a closed account. For an astrologer we keep the PAN and payout records the tax law requires.

7. Your rights

  • Know and get a copy. Download your data from your profile ("Download my data"), up to three times a day. It includes your profile, permissions, birth details, consultations, payments, reviews and support requests.
  • Correct it. Change your name, language and birth details in your profile.
  • Delete it. Delete your account from your profile. See the section above for what is kept.
  • Hear your own calls. Listen to the recording of your own call from the consultation page.
  • Withdraw a permission. Switch off offers and news in your profile, or write to us to withdraw another permission.
  • Complain. Tell us if you think we have mishandled your data (see "Contact"). If you are not satisfied with our answer you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
  • Name someone to act for you if you cannot, as the law allows.

Please write to us for anything you cannot do yourself in the app. We may need to check that the request comes from you.

8. How we protect it

  • Everything travels over encrypted connections.
  • Sensitive items such as PAN and bank account numbers are stored encrypted, and only the last digits are ever shown.
  • Private files (identity documents, call recordings, voice notes and pictures in chats, support screenshots) are kept in private storage and are opened only through short-lived links, after a check that the person asking is allowed to see them.
  • Our staff see only what their job needs, and reading a call recording, a transcript or a document is written to an audit log.
  • We limit sign-in attempts, watch for abuse and keep our systems up to date.

No system is perfectly safe. If a breach affects your data we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

9. Children

Grahyog is for people aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has given us data, write to us and we will remove it.

10. Cookies and similar storage

Our website keeps a small amount of information in your browser to keep you signed in and to remember simple choices, such as your language. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party advertising trackers. While you pay, our payment partner may load its own checkout, which has its own policy.

11. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when we change what we do with data or when the law changes, and change the date at the top. For a change that matters to you we will tell you in the app or by message before it applies.
